There is nothing quite like waking up in the morning and getting a good dose of some brand-new, spicy and fun information. It is not only going to wake you up but is bound to make your day too.
So, before you’re off to start your day, take a look at these fun facts.
1. Inception of Parcel Post Service
In 1931, the Parcel Post Service was launched in the United States of America and it came with few guidelines regarding what could and could not be sent. However, here’s something the parcel company didn’t anticipate would happen; many parents decided that taking their kids to their grandparent’s house would be expensive so why not just mail them instead? Bizarre though it may seem, many people began mailing their children using the service. The first case was reported of Mr. Mrs. Jesse Beague in Ohio who sent their son to his grandmother with the help of the parcel service for the small price of 15 cents.
2. The Puppy Channel
This is what happens when you are eager to solve a problem that does not actually exist. During the mid-1990s when O.J. Simpson was on trial and the whole U.S. was glued to their TV sets, a retired advertising executive Dan FitzSimons came up with an idea to create a channel that hosts entertaining content to distract him while the main show was on a commercial break. So, he created the puppy channel which included videos of puppies playing around and doing tricks.
3. The Sleeping Beauty Syndrome
Believe it or not, Kleine-Levin Syndrome is also called ‘Sleeping Beauty Syndrome.’ A person suffering from this disorder will have weeks or days where they will experience extreme sleepiness and drowsiness and can end up sleeping for up to 16-20 hours a day. This messes up their eating habits as well, which results in them feeling extremely hungry. As of now, there are no official research findings regarding the cause of the sleeping beauty syndrome and so for its treatment, patients are supposed to be monitored during their sleepy episodes.
