Unlike someone looking for a sugar daddy/mommy, when celebrities get into relationships with older people, there is usually a different reason. It could be career moves; maybe it's a midlife crisis, it can be compatibility and even love. The one thing they're always mindful of is the age gap.

For that, there's an equation that, while not scientifically proven, still does a good job. It's called the half your age plus seven rule, where the older person in the equation halves their age and adds seven, if the younger person is the same age or older, good stuff. If not, be prepared to be called a cradle snatcher.

Jason Statham & Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - 20 Years

They say that early baldness is a sign of genius. We don't know how smart Jason Statham is, but the 53-year-old action hero has been bald for a long time, and he must have been smart to land a hottie like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Statham and Huntington-Whiteley "met" at the Coachella Music Festival, although they had already heard of each other. There may be 20 years between them, but even two decades couldn't stop them from getting engaged and having a baby boy named Jack, who was born in 2017. They're in no hurry to get married, and Statham is filming a movie called Five Eyes.

Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds - 11 Years

If the Green Lantern movie ever becomes a cult classic, it'll be because you can watch the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Blake lively in wonderful 4K awesomeness. Otherwise, it was just a critical and box office bomb. At least for Reynolds and Lively, the on-screen chemistry turned into off-screen romance.

The 11-year age gap didn't even bother them. However, there were complications since Reynold was still married to Scarlett Johansson when he and Lively met. The marriage wasn't blissful, though, and Reynolds ended it, dating Lively as soon as the divorce was finalized. Reynolds is set to return to the Deadpool franchise for a third installment.

George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin - 17 Years

George Clooney has an old man charm that has had ladies swooning since he made his debut in the medical series ER. He wasn't even old at the time, at 33 years old. What's amazing for those fans who dreamed about marrying him is that it could've been one of them.

His wife, Amal Alamuddin, is not only 17 years younger than him, but she is also not a celebrity, except for being his wife, of course. She is an international law specialist who has had some high-profile clients, including Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks. Clooney is set to feature in a documentary called Forced from Home.

Beyonce & Jay-Z - 12 Years

So for all reference purposes, let it be known that Jay Z broke the half your age plus seven rule. He was 31 when he started dating a 19-year-old Queen Bey. He needed her to be 22-and-a-half. Do the math if you don't believe it. Either way that didn't stop them from becoming a major power couple.

They both believe that gifts express love, and Between her $500 million and his $1.3 billion net worth, that's a lot of expensive gifts. These include a private jet for Jigga and a private island for Beyoncé. Jay-Z has jumped on the cannabis market and released a line of related products in December 2020.

Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra - 11 Years

Sadly, for all those swooning teenagers who became swooning young adults thinking they're old enough to marry Nick Jonas now, he's spoken for. He is married to Priyanka Chopra, the Bollywood actress who has made Hollywood her playground with roles in films like We Can Be Heroes.

She is 11 years older than him, meaning that our man Jonas is into older women, and again, if you were his age or younger, that means you're definitely not his type. Not that Chopra looks 11-years older than him, she doesn't look much older than him anyway. Chopra has another Hollywood role, not the horizon in the much-anticipated Matrix 4.

David Foster & Katharine McPhee - 34 Years

The weirdest thing about David Foster's marriage to Katharine McPhee isn't even the 34 year age difference. No, sir, the really strange thing about their marriage is that McPhee is a year younger than Foster's third daughter Erin. She even jokingly commented "Mommmyyy" on the couple's social media engagement announcement.

Foster, of course, has been married before. This is, in fact, marriage number five. But he vowed that after some introspective thought when marriage number four ended, that his marriage to the Idols runner-up will be his last. They tied the knot in 2019, and Macphee birthed their first child in February 2021.

Ellen DeGeneres & Portia De Rossi - 15 Years

In 2020 Ellen Degeneres went from one of the most love talk show hosts to the brink of cancellation. But she seems to have weathered the storm, and things are beginning to pick up for the comedian and former actress, who returned for the 18th season of the talk show.

Part of her resilience is down to her wife Portia De Rossi, who has been a rock for Ellen throughout the tumultuous period. They have been together since 2004 and married in 2008. Despite her return and a record-setting season opener, her overall ratings have dropped by 43%. She was also a producer of a new series called Little Funny.

Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves - 13 Years

There must be something about a woman who doesn't know who a celebrity is. At least that was the case for Matthew McConaughey, whose wife Camila Alves didn't have a clue who he was when she met him. That all changed when they started dating.

This happened in 2006, and by 2008 they were parents for the first time. It took him four years and two more children before he finally made her his wife, with the Oscar winner marrying his model in 2012. McConaughey has expressed his desire to run for Governor of Texas, but for now, he's satisfied with returning to the sing franchise as Buster Moon.

Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones - 25 Years

At the start of their relationship, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were one of the most talked-about celebrity relationships. The celebrity rags couldn't get enough of their charm, and of course, taking stabs at the 25-year age gap between them.

Funnily enough, it was Zeta-Jones who was infatuated with Douglas when they met for the first time in France. It's rumored that all he told her was that he wanted to father her children, and she was ready to walk down the aisle. He has fathered two children with her, and they got married in 2000. Douglas is currently filming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Megan Mullally & Nick Offerman - 11 Years

A decade seems like a long time and a big age gap. But what if the age gap were between two consenting adults of 29 and 41? That was the case when Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman met while acting in a play called The Berlin Circle.

They moved fast, dating or a year and a half before getting hitched in 2003. They have worked on a few projects together, including an episode of Will & Grace, which is where Mullaly's found fame. Mullaly is currently still doing voice work with the hit show Bob's Burgers. She also has a new animated show called The Great North, which premiered in January 2021.

Harrison Ford & Calista Flockhart - 22 Years

At 78 years old, Harrison Ford is still a hit with the ladies. Not surprising, considering his mixture of rugged manliness and wry wit. One can only wonder how Ally McBeal's Calista Flockhart must have felt when she met him at the age of 60 at the Golden Globes in 2002.

While the age gap remains 22 years regardless of when they met, the then 38-year-old FLockhart opted to play a long game. They dated for eight years, tying the knot in 2010. Ford is set to prove he still has it by returning to one last installment of the Indiana Jones franchise.

Alec Baldwin & Hilaria Thomas - 26 Years

Age hasn't stopped Alec Baldwin from being appealing to women. Even at 62, he is pretty popular with the ladies, and he has used that appeal to land himself a lovely young lady named Hilaria Thomas. It took him a while, though. He split from his first wife, Kim Basinger, in 2002 and only Married Thomas in 2012.

She is a podcaster and yoga instructor who is 26 years his junior, and when they married, she was 26, and he was 54. They have six children together, and it was recently announced that Baldwin would play Enzo Ferrari in a film called Lamborghini.

Sam & Aaron Taylor-Johnson - 23 Years

Another couple who broke the half-plus seven rule but are still going strong is Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. They met like most popular couples do on the movie set. That movie was called Nowhere Boy. He was 18, and she was 42, and they started dating in 2008.

It wasn't an easy relationship with many criticizing their decision, but they held firm, getting married and both acquiring double-barreled surnames, taking each other's last monikers. They have two daughters together while Sam also brings two kids from a previous relationship. Aaron is shooting The King's Man, part of the Kingsman film franchise, which is due out in 2021.

Amber Tamblyn & David Cross - 19 Years

Amber Tamblyn made a name for herself in the horror film game with major roles in The Ring and The Grudge 2. She has also had roles in serious series like General Hospital and Joan of Arcadia. Those are some pretty serious roles, yet here she is, married to a comedy actor 19 years her senior.

But she and David Cross just fit and swiftly moved from dating to engaged to getting married between 2011 and 2012. They had their only child, a daughter, in 2017. Cross starred in eight episodes of the 2021 series Genius, while Tamblyn has a series called Y: The Last Man due out in 2021.

Sarah Paulson & Holland Taylor - 32 Years

Despite there being a generational gap between them, Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor have had pretty similar career achievements. Both are well respected in the industry and have Primetime Emmy Awards to show for it. They're also both well paid and combined have $30 million in the bank.

Even their 2020 looked similar, and we don't mean in terms of quarantining. They were pretty busy, workwise. Taylor starred in a web series called Hollywood, which earned her another Emmy nomination. Meanwhile, Paulson's 2021 includes American Horror Story and American Crime Story roles. Taylor also has an upcoming series called The Chair.

Bruce Willis & Emma Heming - 23 Years

Bruce Willis was so smitten with English Model Emma Hemming that he married her twice. It was a big step for him, considering the time he took to get back in the dating game after he and Demi Moore Split. But he felt that he was ready to commit.

Their first wedding took place in the Turks and Caicos Islands. But it was not legally binding and therefore not recognized. So he married her again in a legal ceremony in Beverly Hills. Willis is rumored to be doing one last hurrah in the Die Hard franchise in a film called McClane.

Elon Musk & Natasha Bassett - 21 Years

Since the end of Elon Musk's first marriage to writer Justine Musk, he's seemingly discovered an affinity for women in performing arts. After all, before news broke of his split from Grimes in 2022, he'd been linked with Australian actress Natalie Bassett. Fortunately for them, a 21-year age gap has nothing on the love that these two share.

 

You couldn't have missed her if you've seen movies like "House by the Lake," "Spy Intervention," and "Britney Ever After." Details of how they met are private, and there's no official confirmation from Musk or Bassett. However, a 2022 picture from "HollywoodLife" showing Bassett exiting his private jet confirmed the rumors.

Warren Beatty & Annette Bening - 21 Years

Warren Beatty is a pretty smooth guy, and you can tell by his track record with women. He actually has a reputation for bedding women and has a list of female partners that reads nay on 100 females long. But he completely let go of his womanizing ways when he met Annette Bening.

Perhaps her youthful energy captured his attention, but despite being 21 years his junior, she turned him into a one-woman man. They married in 1992 and have four children together. Although Beatty doesn't have much going on in terms of work, Bening has a role in the film called Death on the Nile.

Rod Stewart & Penny Lancaster - 26 Years

Ever the playboy, Rod Stewart has written tons of songs that would serenade the pants off many young women. It appears it still works, even when he was 53, and the woman in question was a 27 years old student photographer. This was in 2007 when he asked his now-wife, Penny Lancaster, to marry him.

Of course, she said yes, admitting that she's always wanted to marry an older man. He clearly tickled her fancy while also playing into a rock star fantasy most girls have. Apparently, Stewart is also still fit enough for the road and is going to tour in 2021 for his The Hits tour.

Adam Levine & Behati Prinsloo - 10 Years

Apparently, Adam Levine and model Anne Vyalitsyna were a picture-perfect couple. At least that's what many people thought. But it just goes to show how little foresight we have because Levine and Vyalitsyna broke up, and he is now smitten with Namibian model Behati Prinsloo.

Despite the 10-year age gap between the Namibian former Victoria's Secret model and the Maroon 5 singer, they didn't let it stop them from following their heart. They got married in 2014 and have two children together. There a Maroon 5 documentary in the pipeline with Levine at the forefront.

Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer - 13 Years

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer took the meeting on the set reason for getting together to a whole new level. Both were stars of the cult classic show True Blood, and they actually played love interests on the show. But their chemistry on-screen came from actual chemistry off-screen, and eventually, they couldn't deny it anymore.

They started dating soon after they had finished work on the pilot episode in 2007. This was despite reservations about their 13 year age gap. They married in 2010 and have a pair of twins keeping them occupied. In 2021 Paquin will star in a film called American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story.

Hugh Jackman & Deborra Lee-Furness - 13 Years

Hugh Jackman may be a big deal now, but when he met his wife Deborra Lee-Furness back in the early '90s, she was the star, and he was just a novice finding his way. They worked together on an Australian show called Correlli in 1995.

They married in 1996, with wedding rings Jackman designed himself. They've had their share of ups and downs, most notably with Furness's fertility issues. But he proved his commitment, and they eventually opted to adopt two children. Jackman is set to star in the 2021 film called Reminiscence.

Dane Cook & Kelsi Taylor - 27 Years

You may think that Beyonce and Jay-Z were weird by dating when he was in his thirties, and she wasn't even in her 20s yet. But comedian Dane Cook actually had to wait for his wife Kelsi Taylor to turn 18 before they could start dating each other.

He even joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she wasn't even alive for most of his life. But they knew they wanted to be together since they met at a game night Cook was attending at a friend's house. Cook probably figured that if anyone thought it was weird, like a good comedian, he would just joke his way out of trouble.

Renee Zellweger & Ant Anstead – 10 Years

After guesting on HGTV's Celebrity IOU: Joyride in June 2021, Renée Zellweger and one of the show's hosts, Ant Anstead, began their romance immediately. There were even photos of them kissing the following month, as snapped by Page Six.

Going back to the Discovery+ show, Anstead shared on E!'s Daily Pop that it was "a real pleasure" working with the Oscar-winning star since she knows her way around cars. The two recently went to their first public event together at the Radford Motors gala in California. The 52-year-old Zellweger, most famous for the film Bridget Jones's Diary, is a decade older than the 42-year-old Anstead.

Michael Fassbender & Alicia Vikander - 11 Years

Michael Fassbender may be best known for his role as Magneto in the X-Men series, but he gained critical acclaim for his role in the 12 Years a Slave. He even earned an Oscar nomination for this role, although he didn't win.

He is 11 years older than his wife Alicia Vikander, who he met at the Toronto Film Festival in 2014. She is an Oscar winner for her role in the film The Danish Girl, and Fassbender is probably hoping to get on par with her using his upcoming roles. Like the upcoming film he recently finished called Next Goal Wins due out in 2021.

Ian Somerhalder & Nikki Reed - 10 Years

You could almost imagine Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed forgetting about their 10-year age gap while connecting over a conversation about being vampires. Of course, Somerhalder played a more authentic lore-specific vampire that dies in sunlight and has a garlic allergy. Reed, meanwhile, played the Sparkling vampires made famous by the Twilight Saga.

Not that any of that matters since they have been dating since 2014 and were engaged and married within months. They also have a daughter born in 2017. They've even worked together on Somerhalder's short-lived series V-Wars, while he also recently finished work on a film called Time Framed.

Hilarie Burton & Jeffrey Dean Morgan - 16 Years

He may be famous for playing the polarising Negan in The Walking Dead series. But before then, Jeffrey Dean Morgan gained a cult following for his short stint on the show Supernatural. He can thank his co-star from the show, Jensen Ackles, for introducing him to Hilarie Burton.

Apparently, they hit it off instantly and couldn't even care about the 16-year age difference. They also didn't care about how long they dated because they started in 2009 and only got married in 2019. They have two children together. Morgan has two movies to look out for in 2021: The Unholy and The Integrity of Joseph Chambers.

Daryl Hannah & Neil Young - 15 Years

Daryl Hannah and Neil Young have both been around the block and have the accolades to prove it. Young has a particularly booming trophy cabinet with plenty of Grammys to go with his two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

But they go together like two peas in a pod, despite their 15 year age difference. This is probably because they met late in their lives, in 2014, so both were mature and in the same mindset. Young ended his 36-year marriage to Pegi Young, while he and Hannah confirmed their marriage in 2018. Hannah recently finished a 2021 film called The American Connection.

Emmanuel & Brigitte Macron - 25 Years

There's more to the controversy that surrounded French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte than a 25 year age difference. It's the fact that when they met and fell in love, he was 15 and she was 39. She was a teacher at his school and met at a theater workshop that she was hosting.

Mind you; they waited until he was 18 before they started dating, much to the vitriol of his parents, who tried desperately to keep them apart. But their efforts were in vain, and the couple married in 2007. They say she was important to his winning presidential campaign, aiding him with public speaking skills.

Mel Gibson & Rosalind Ross - 35 Years

Mel Gibson has had to deal with a lot of flack in recent years. But one of the hardest things for him was dealing with his divorce from his long-time wife, Robyn. Gibson was distraught and struggled for a while to come to terms with it.

But time heals all wounds, and it did for Gibson too. He not only met and fell in love with champion equestrian rider Rosalind Ross. But also lost weight and became ripped. That was probably so that he can keep up with his 35 years younger partner. They've been dating quietly since 2014, and Gibson recently finished work on a film called Last Looks.

Heidi Klum & Tom Kaulitz - 17 Years

Heidi Klum and Seal had a pretty solid romance going. He adopted her daughter from another man and would celebrate their anniversary by renewing their vows on a private beach. Despite that gesture, they still go divorced, and she is currently dating an up-and-coming musician.

This guy's name is Tom Kaulitz, and he is 17 years younger than Klum. He is the guitarist for the band Tokio Hotel. The age doesn't bother her because she doesn't look much older than Kaulitz. They married in February 2019 in a private ceremony and later had one for family and friends. Klum was recently featured at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2021.

Kelsey Grammer & Kayte Walsh - 27 Years

When Kelsey Grammer started dating Kayte Walsh, the couple attracted a lot of ire and criticism. But not because he was 27 years older than her. Instead, it was because he was still married to his wife Camille when he started his new journey with Walsh.

Walsh apologized and acknowledged that they had overstepped the marks, and saying that she is by no means proud of how the relationship started. Grammar and Walsh married in 2011 and have three children together. Grammer recently finished work on a 2021 film called The God Committee.
